This symposium will bring together three studies of the project Empowering People Towards Socially Inclusive Society at Laurea University of Applied Sciences, working in the field of expertise-by-experience and experiential knowledge in providing solutions for vulnerable groups. The project develops theoretical concepts and methodologies that will form the bedrock for practical solutions developed in the project. Co-creation, co-research and active stakeholder engagement are inherent in the project design, and naturally, experts-by-experience are involved in the studies. In addition to theoretical and practical contributions, the project strives towards a people-centered paradigm shift in the social and health care sector. This kind of approach focuses on the viewpoints and experiences of clients and grassroots-level workers, which will lead to improved well-being and a more inclusive society. The symposium’s primary focus is on presenting the methods and tools for working with vulnerable groups. The symposium is connected closely to the conference theme Sustainable Development and Continuous Learning in the Changing World. At the red thread in the presentations are participation, expertise-by-experience, co-research, experiential knowledge and collective learning. Agency and methodology for that are essential subjects of the presentations.
